This Week in Racism

Sunday, December 3rd, 2006

We aplogize for the light content load the past couple of days. We have found ourselves in the midst of finals and other, more long-term problems. And so we thought we would direct your attention to New Yorker scribe Malcolm Gladwell’s newest post on the topic of racism. He writes:

Between Michael Richards’ outburst in a comedy nightclub, Mel Gibson’s tirade of a few months back, and Michael Irvin’s musings about Tony Romo’s racial heritage, I’m wondering if we need a clearer definition of what it means to be a racist.

Defining racism seems like quite an undertaking, does it now? But he does it. He actually does it. Hey, Gladwell. How’d you get so fucking smart?
