Dept. of Huge Assholes
John Gibson is a cruel bastard

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

FOX News host, right wing radio pundit and all-around asshole John “Make More Babies” Gibson showed his cruel, cold, conservative black heart on Friday when he mocked Jon Stewart’s immediate response to 9/11 after asking if “we need another 9-11.”

You can view all of Stewart’s post 9/11 comments here. Meanwhile, Media Matters has the full transcript and audio, but here’s glimpse at Gibson’s and his lackey’s intellectual attack on Stewart:

STEWART: But you know what the view is now?

ANGRY RICH: What is it, Jon?

GIBSON: What is it, Jon?

STEWART: The Statue of Liberty.

GIBSON: Oh! That’s great. I’m — God, I’m touched.

I never knew assholes could get so big. Anyway…

More douchebaggery after the jump.

Giuliani saved thousounds by holding the Twin Towers up until help could arrive

Rudy speaks in support of civil unions at a recent campaign stop.

Today, Mr. Rudolph Giuliani, former mayor of New York City, made a brilliant comment about his relationship with the 911 rescue workers:

“I was there working with them. I was exposed to exactly the same things they were exposed to. So in that sense, I’m one of them,” he told reporters at a Los Angeles Dodgers-Cincinnati Reds baseball game.

So many police officers and firefighters owe their lives to the top-notch radio equiptment and other disaster-readiness infrastructure Rudy put in place while he was mayor, officials have nothing to glowing things to say about his take on the 911 aftermath:

“He is such a liar, because the only time he was down there was for photo ops with celebrities, with politicians, with diplomats,” said deputy fire chief Jimmy Riches, who spent months digging for his firefighter son.

“On 9/11 all he did was run. He got that soot on him, and I don’t think he’s taken a shower since.”

And:

Harold Schaitberger, president of the International Association of Fire Fighters, a union that fiercely opposes Giuliani, said he doubted Giuliani misspoke.

“I think he was simply showing what his true character is - a self-absorbed, self-deluded promoter who got caught and is now just simply trying to backtrack,” Schaitberger said.

Yowser. Surprisingly, there is nothing but silence on this one coming for the right side of the blogosphere. Way to know how to pick your battles, guys.

McCain for president, take two

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

mccain2_header_03.jpg

The John McCain running for president today is a completely different John McCain who was running for president yesterday. John had some catching up to on things he’s forgotton to criticize over the past six years:

My friends, we all know the war in Iraq has not gone well…

…When Americans confront a catastrophe, natural or man-made, they have a right to expect basic competence from their government. They won’t accept that firemen and policemen are unable to communicate with each other in an emergency because they don’t have the same radio frequency…

…They won’t accept government’s failure to deliver bottled water to dehydrated babies or rescue the infirm from a hospital with no electricity. They won’t accept substandard care and indifference for our wounded veterans…

Iraq, 911, Katrina… Way to get caught up on world events. Jackass. [LAT, text of speech]

FOX News wants you to know the whole, fabricated truth

Saturday, January 27th, 2007

FOX News, the predominant American bastion of conservative truth, plans to debut the unedited footage from ABC’s “The Path to 9/11″ docu-drama. Bravo, FNC. At least you’re openly admitting to showcasing fictionalized accounts of the truth.

ABC aired the film back in Sept. 10/11 and was lambastad for having a bias against the Clinton administration and its position on terrorism. Media Matters says:

The Path to 9/11 drew sharp criticism from former Clinton administration officials, journalists, and conservatives who noted that significant parts of the “docudrama’s” content were not supported by the 9-11 Commission’s findings, despite the claims of ABC and writer Cyrus Nowrasteh that the film was largely based on the commission’s report.

So who can you count to tell you the real story about inconsequential truths? Read more after the jump.

Lil’ Bush: We are full circle

Monday, December 4th, 2006

Comedy Central has ordered six episodes of “Lil’ Bush,” a show that depicts the president and his cohorts as elementary schoolers, CNN is reporting.
The show got its start as a series of 5 minute video clips to be viewed on cell phones of Amp’d Mobile customers and they available on YouTube. CNN points this out about the show:

“Bush” represents an unlikely reversal of the one-way flow of programming from television to other digital platforms, where networks and studios are attempting to extend franchises in search of new revenue. That said, many a programmer has cited the Internet and mobile arenas as potential breeding grounds for fare that could translate back to TV.

Ah, yes. So it is possible for media corporations to find new programming out here in the wilderness of the World Wide Web. It makes us wonder why all the communications conglomerates are so focused on shutting the internet down instead of treating it like what it really is: a goldmine.

An astute social observation of our own, plus music as always after the jump.
