We don’t hate; we’re a “love blog.”

You know what, I’ll concede that “wishing one dead” (and I didn’t even use CtrlP or CtrlV) is hateful. Lots of jokes are. It’s a matter of taste. Do you want to make the generalization that liberals have bad taste? Go ahead; you already do.

In any case, my only contention was that what was said isn’t hate speech. See?

“They took a break from pretending not to get erect from hate speech long enough to produce pages and pages of Technorati listings.”

So you see, I wasn’t manipulating anything; I was merely referencing something that was said on this leftist site.

However, I would describe wishing one dead – hateful. But hey, if you guys on the left think that it is fine and consider such statements as a “joke”, more power to you.

NOUN: Bigoted speech attacking or disparaging a social or ethnic group or a member of such a group.

Speech that shows discontent towards individuals or political parties is not, I repeat, NOT hate speech. To say it is devalues people who have been at the short end of racist and bigoted speech.

I can’t help but think that this sudden use of the term “hate speech” for something as idiotic as Internet banter and chatter is somehow connected to the conservative backlash to the proposed Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007. It’s almost as the conservative base decided it can’t neuter what hate speech stands for, so it tries to manipulate the definition so as to corral the masses against the liberal base. It’s ridiculous, and I personally find this redefinition more offensive than any joke that Wonkette could ever publish.

Why is it “self-righteous conservative folks”? I do not find it self-righteous to be insulted by such a crass comment. Also, one does not have to be conservative to be turned off by that sort of writing.

I personally do not get “erect” from hate speech on either side of the isle. I think if you are trying to make a point about something, that point is better understood and more respected if you leave the hate speech out.

Here are a few examples of what conservatives had to say when Democrat Senator Johnson suffered his stroke:

I realize the added comment “Unlike many on the left” may offend you but your comment regarding John Roberts actually proves that statement to be correct. It is unfortunate, but true.

“I feel so bad for his family. For this to happen to begin with is tragic, but for it to happen just weeks before Christmas makes it so much more difficult. I pray that Senator Johnson comes out of this ok.” – Wizbang

These are just a few of the conservative comments relating to Johnson’s illness. It would be nice to see the same from your side, rather than your “jokes”.
