A happier, more inhibreated time

yeltsin1.jpg
Boris Yeltsin, Russia’s first post-Soviet leader, died yesterday. In the early 1990s there was a brief moment during which the thugs than have run that country for the past 500 years were on vacation. Yeltsin was watching the shop during that time. He will be missed, but probably not so missed that anyone will investigate how exactly he died. [NYT, WP, BBC]

May he be in a big bubble bath of vodka in the sky (with many capitalist-leaning Russian ladies in fur coats and bikinis.)
