FOX News wants you to know the whole, fabricated truth

FOX News, the predominant American bastion of conservative truth, plans to debut the unedited footage from ABC’s “The Path to 9/11″ docu-drama. Bravo, FNC. At least you’re openly admitting to showcasing fictionalized accounts of the truth.

ABC aired the film back in Sept. 10/11 and was lambastad for having a bias against the Clinton administration and its position on terrorism. Media Matters says:

The Path to 9/11 drew sharp criticism from former Clinton administration officials, journalists, and conservatives who noted that significant parts of the “docudrama’s” content were not supported by the 9-11 Commission’s findings, despite the claims of ABC and writer Cyrus Nowrasteh that the film was largely based on the commission’s report.

So who can you count to tell you the real story about inconsequential truths? Read more after the jump.

But a little things like fairness and balance are negligable when it comes to FOX News, specifically Sean Hannity.

…[I]n promoting the January 28 edition of Hannity’s America, [FOX News] claimed the program will feature “the video Bill Clinton doesn’t want you to see,” adding that Clinton “forced ABC to cut out an entire scene,” and that Fox News will “expose the clip at the center of the controversy.”

Once again, we can sleep soundly tonight knowing that Sean Hannity is out there finding the truth about the things that matter to Americans. Like poverty. Wait, no. The economy? That’s not it. Institutionalized discrimination. Crap, that’s not it either. Useless finger pointing in an aimless attempt to gain ratings and demonize dissidents? YES. That’s the one.

But there is some journalistic truth to be found in airing the deleted scenes. John Finley, the show’s producer says:

“It was a story that was so controversial at the time,” he said. “We here at Fox — and myself personally — feel the American people deserve both sides. We have the opportunity to show the viewers what they missed in September, the full story of the controversy surrounding the scene. We think people should see it and judge for themselves.”

That’s right, folks. Not only was there controversy regarding a fictional account about the government and terrorism, but you deserve to know the whole story about the fake story. They report inane stories; you decide. Us? We’ll wait for the Director’s Cut DVD with the bloopers.
